RUINED MOMENTS, PART 2
I shared my feelings about Condoleezza Rice's nomination in a previous post: How to Ruin a Beautiful Moment.
The nomination of Alberto Gonzales feels like another chapter in the same book. A Latino for Attorney General? Cool! How to make it uncool? Nominate a guy who's a war criminal!
You probably already know about Mr. Gonzales's record in the Bush administration, but if you don't, here are some of the high points.
The idea that this person will be the highest law enforcement officer in our nation is just frightening.
Mr. Bush, may I suggest that you have done your part in bringing women and minorities into positions of power? Could you please leave any further progress to future administrations?
I, too, am in complete disbelief that Gonzalez has been nominated. People who believe that the United States should abide by the Geneva Convention and refrain from using terrorist-style tactics have been left out in the cold.

Yeah, the thing that's amazing about W is his chutzpah. To nominate someone like this and not even blink. Bush may not be big in the brains department, but he sure has balls.

Does he really think that people are so stupid that we'll just ooooh and aahh over a Hispanic nomination? Bush will end up setting women and minorities back decades with this approach. Perhaps that is the intent? Just look at what he has done for Christianity....This reminds me of my radical feminist days of debating if we would vote for a woman regardless of political affiliation. Now there is no debate in my head--hell no!
