Along with the international concerns over Iran's messing around with nuclear technology, our national leaders seem to be eager to link Iran to whatever other problems they can, from U. S. casualties in Iraq to the threatening civil war there. (Anybody want to place bets on whether some official will decide that Iran was instrumental in the 9-11 attacks?)
America-haters from a lot of different countries have come to Iraq to engage us, there are certainly other unfriendly countries who have more nukes than Iran, and lots of places have equally nasty human rights records, but our government is turning the spotlight towards Iran as Public Enemy #1. What will come of it? I dunno. But I can't help being reminded of Orwell's 1984, where it's suddenly announced to the populace that the enemy is actually Eastasia instead of Eurasia as they had been told before. The people obediently shift their hatred from one country to another without a moment's hesitation.
