Very cool. This guy in Texas turns his dirty car into works of art. One commenter at the site said, "very reminiscent of the transient nature of the Buddhist sand madalas."

I've said many times that someday I'd like to take a two-week vacation in Los Angeles. There are so many things to see here that I have never seen. So now I'm going to take the blogging.la challenge. National Geographic Traveler Magazine has a list of the top 30 things you should do when visiting Los Angeles.
Post these on your blog and bold or star the ones that you've done:
1. Hollywood Entertainment Museum
2. Venice's Abbot Kinney Blvd. shops
3. Topanga Canyon's Inn of the Seventh Ray
4. Catalina Island
5. Downtown's Flower Market
6. One spa at Santa Monica's Shutters on the Beach
7. Pink's hot dogs
8. Fred Segal's
9. Free TV tapings - Yes, a couple of times.
10. La Brea Tar Pits
11. Chinatown's Chung King Road galleries
12. Hollywood Forever cemetery (and Cinespia screenings)
13. Museum of Jurassic Technology (in Culver City)
14. Larchmont Blvd. (especially Cafe Chapeau)
15. Shopping at Robertson and 3rd
16. Grand Central Market
17. American Cinematheque's Egyptian Theatre
18. Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels
19. Live music at Santa Monica's McCabe's
20. Los Angeles River (Los Feliz to downtown)
21. Beverly Hills Hotel
22. Venice's canals
23. Mount Hollywood in Griffith Park - I'll give myself half credit for this one. I've done parts of Griffith Park, but haven't hiked very high up.
24. Little Ethiopia restaurants - Yes! JG and I did this together when we were studying about Africa.
25. The Grove
26. Koreatown's Brass Monkey (for karaoke)
27. Farmer's Markets in Hollywood and Santa Monica - Yes. The one in Santa Monica.
28. Melrose's Urth Caffe
29. Adamson House
30. Philippe's french dip sandwiches
So that's 3.5 points out of 30. I definitely need a vacation. The things on the list that most interest me are: The Inn of the Seventh Ray (I'm dying to see that place!), the tar pits, the river, and the Venice canals. McCabe's and the cathedral would be cool, too.
I don't usually do memes, but I liked this one (I picked it up from Emily at Strangechord):
TEN THINGS I'VE DONE THAT I THINK MY READERS HAVEN'T:
OK, knock down my list! Leave a comment if you've done any of those.
A really cool picture by way of Jeffrey Heer. Famous Escher painting recreated with Legos.
Jack Bog is having his second annual Buck-A-Hit Day, in which he will donate one dollar toward food and shelter for the poor for each unique visitor to his site.

Hello, world.
I've been thinking for a while about starting a blog, but I wasn't sure if my motivation was a real message for the world or just plain old vanity.
Recent events, however, have left me really wanting to find a way to make a difference in the world. Maybe writing is how I can make my contribution. And besides, it'll be fun.
Enjoy.
